Serve as the assistant to the District 4 Engineer to ensure that the District Engineering Section is operating at an optimal condition. Supervise and manage the District Technical Support Section which consists of the District 4 design team and Survey Section to ensure that all projects are designed on time and within budget, and that all survey work is executed in a timely manner to ensure that all deadlines are met. Oversee the District 4 STIP program to manage the timely delivery of all District roadway and bridge design projects.Supervise the District 4 Traffic Section to ensure that all District traffic operations are conducted to yield a safe product for the travelling public. Ensure that the permitting process is executed in a manner which yields excellent customer service to all users which include corporations, property owners, and utility operators.Supervise and Manage the District 4 Local Government Road Fund team to ensure that all local entities within the confines of District 4 are aware of funding opportunities so that their needs may be met and that all road funds are administered in a concise and efficient manner.

Served as the assistant to the District 4 Engineering Support manager in overseeing the district’s multi-million dollar STIP program budget for delivery of projects for projects that are in both the study and design development phases.Coordinated with the STIP manager on project schedules and multi-million dollar costs to assure both are adequate for all district projects.Supervised and managed the district design crew which consisted of a design supervisor and 2 design technicians, and ensured that all district lead design projects are completed on time and within their multi-million dollar budgets.Supervised and managed the District 4 licensed surveyor and survey crew to ensure that all assigned survey tasks are prioritized completed in a timely and concise manner, and ensure that the district survey crew had adequate resources and training to complete assigned tasks

Served as the assistant regional manager, overseeing and managing several high-level licensed project development engineers and supervisors in the development and delivery of multiple NMDOT multi-million dollar projects in accordance with AASHTO, MUTCD, and the NMDOT Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction. Ensured that all projects are within their multi-million dollar budgets.Provided guidance and mentorship to the project development engineers and engineers in training in technical decision making related to engineering project related issues. Guided the high level project development licensed engineers in the contract administration of consultant design contracts to ensure the projects being developed as a result of these contracts were delivered in a timely manner and within budget.Conducted staff meetings to convey information from executive staff to regional staff. Supported the regional manager in ensuring that the region is operating at a high level of project development production.

Serve as a design team leader in the production of highway design plans on NMDOT projects in accordance with AASHTO, MUTCD, and the NMDOT Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction.Coordinate with development support groups such as the NMDOT Bridge, Traffic, and Drainage Sections as well as local government entities and the general public, as required, to ensure that the established project development process and design milestone dates are met.Coordinate with District offices to garner intelligence on problems frequently encountered by District Maintenance forces on any given aspect of a project so that solutions may be incorporated in construction plans.Supervise a design unit of three team members and ensure that NMDOT administrative directives are abided by.

Provided engineering support in the development of the Department’s standard drawings and specifications for highway and bridge construction in accordance with guidelines such as AASHTO and the MUTCD.Provided technical engineering support in the administering of said specifications and drawings by Department staff, local governments, FHWA, and various consultant engineering firms.Served as an integral part of the design teams to produce bid packages which included contract books and plans that were complete and concise, thus minimizing any addenda or change orders.
