In addition, Sands is one of the patent holders of the BiObex authentication patent.Prior to founding BiObex, Sands served as Director, Executive Vice-President, and Chief Operations Officer of AC Technology Inc., an IT systems integration firm that operated for 17 years. The company was acquired in June of 2008.Sands attended Fairfield University majoring in Psychology and minor in Business. He also holds a number of technical certifications from Sun Microsystems.
