Joined the Canadian Forces in 1982 as an artillery member and transferred to the engineer branch in 1989 as a structures technician, I worked in my field for three years as an apprentice and then wrote my exams to acquire my journeyman's status. In the year 2000 I was transferred to the school of Military Engineering to teach carpentry where I remained for the next three years. I was then transferred to Canadian Forces Base Petawawa as the acting troop warrant officer where I remained until the end of my career in June of 2005. At that time I was hired as a part 9 building inspector with the City of Pembroke, I then took courses with the MMAH and the OBOA and achieved my CBO status(Chief Building Official) and was hired as the CBO for the town of Deep River where I worked for the next few years full time, and filled in as the CBO of the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards. In mid-2009 I moved to the east coast (Nova Scotia) and worked with a company doing civil work installing new water and sewer lines, hydrants etc. Then in 2011 the opportunity to re-employ with the City of Pembroke came along and I applied, the rest as they say is history.
