Responsible for risk profiling and then work hand in hand with a QS to produce a cost plan for the development. Support the preparation of bid documentation to help win the project. Managed the design team/s to produce design packs, that are within budget and in line with the projects desired programme dates. Ensure the issuing of clear tender information to bidding contractors to minimise risks and ensure a fully compliant fixed priced tender is received.As the only chartered mechanical engineer within the development group able to interface with the design team to create the best design that falls within the agreed budget but also maximises the potential rent for the space being created. Created “stage packs” to ensure information flow across the team , maintaining control of the design and ensures the cost plan remains in line with the design. Responsible for the construction legal duties, such as appointments and warranties, to ensure when the development is marketed there is a clear sales pack that can be handed over to the future buyer. I have joined the fresh thinking Waterman group,I am currently the Project manager and Lead engineer of a 168 bed student accommodation in London. The project is currently at Stage E and to be on site at the end of the year.The design included: 2 x CHP, UFH, independent MVHR per apartment & PV.I am also project managing and the lead engineer of a 6 office block on Savil Row, the office space is of extremely high calibre. The design includes: 9x ASHP’s, down flow units, specialist AHU’sI am currently at the planning stage for 28 story height and 288 apartment residential block in Croydon.

I am currently Leading the Ritz project, this entails working in partnership with the client, architect and design team. The Kings Cross development was a key project to me as I led the mechanical and design team for the R4 building. I proposed a range of sustainable solutions and designed a building that feeds into the electrical tariff with the use of electrical panels on the roof and supplies each apartment with hot water and heating via plate heat exchangers that link to the King’s Cross energy loop. Strata Tower - This Iconic building (Europe’s tallest residential tower) which can be seen from miles around in the London sky line. I snagged all M,E& P services and was a key member of the team that delivered a world class residential building.

I ran the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for WSP buildings London getting in lecturers, suppliers and influential people from the industry to present to the team. I was lead mechanical on many small and medium projects.One of substantial importance being Holbrook House, a 1960 office block that we redesigned. This rejuvenated the building and was such a success that the Architectural Journal AJ published an article focussing on bringing old buildings up to date which featured Holbrook House.I designed Holbrook House using IES to allow us to calculate the loads on the building and determine the correct equipment, glass and façade to be installed. This was WSP’s first full project designed using IES and I presented to WSP Buildings London on lessons learned as a result.

While working at Lincolne Scott in Sydney I worked on sustainable project throughout Australia with new teams and new legislations & new challenges. I led projects, design teams and trained graduates. My designs included the Australian War Memorial Cafe in Canberra, with its innovative ventilation systems and hidden services.

I joined WSP as part of the Graduate training scheme. I volunteered to be a sustainable champion. I set up schemes to reduce waste and minimise energy usage, due to this I won a “Clean City Award”.I was a key member of the decision process to use IES, a design simulation software in WSP London, I chaired a user group and helped up skill the employees. I also trained in the IES head office to create a best work practice which we now use as a standard in WSP.

LEWMAR (Leading Marine Equipment Manufacturer) (One year Industrial Placement)I spent many weeks working in each different sections of the company before moving into the engineering department. Whilst working in each individual section I noted the points that were causing bottle necks in production for the company. I then wrote a report which was handed to the Managing Director. These points were then worked through, allowing the company to run more efficiently and effectively. I brought new and innovative ideas to the company which in turn saved the company a vast amount of money and increased production. In return for my hard work and contribution to Lewmar I was awarded the Kaisan award; presented to those who save the company time and money and help to drive the company forward. All of my designs were put into production and I had the privilege of seeing my final designs at the London Boat Show. As part of my placement I was also given the challenge to design a new range of autopilots for the company, which was taken on and completed as my final year personal project. The project was awarded a Royal Naval Project for outstanding achievement.
