EngineerLewmar Jul 2003 - Jun 2004Havant, Hampshire, GbLEWMAR (Leading Marine Equipment Manufacturer) (One year Industrial Placement)I spent many weeks working in each different sections of the company before moving into the engineering department. Whilst working in each individual section I noted the points that were causing bottle necks in production for the company. I then wrote a report which was handed to the Managing Director. These points were then worked through, allowing the company to run more efficiently and effectively. I brought new and innovative ideas to the company which in turn saved the company a vast amount of money and increased production. In return for my hard work and contribution to Lewmar I was awarded the Kaisan award; presented to those who save the company time and money and help to drive the company forward. All of my designs were put into production and I had the privilege of seeing my final designs at the London Boat Show. As part of my placement I was also given the challenge to design a new range of autopilots for the company, which was taken on and completed as my final year personal project. The project was awarded a Royal Naval Project for outstanding achievement.
