Invited to join a family owned business, the Company having been a client for 10 years. With full P & L responsibility the role included determining company policy, strategic objectives and direction ensuring a modern and professional approach to all aspects of business, thereby ensuring its focus on growth, profits and increasing shareholder return. Negotiated and secured a number of contracts with multi-nationals, recruited and led a team of professionals in growing the business internationally and particularly in the Far East. The Company won over 7 awards for a variety of achievements in its industry and was latterly exporting to 76 countries, with turnover doubled and profits quadrupled, when, following a number of approaches to buy the business, I was responsible for effecting its sale to a Nasdaq listed company.

Instrumental in acquiring a failing company, securing financial re-structuring with the introduction of a venture capitalist, recruited 110 mainly professional engineers to capitalise on the conversion of water authorities into plc's, grew the turnover twelve fold and significantly strengthened the balance sheet. Subsequently replaced the venture capitalist with an international industrial investor and corporate partner, and eventually sold my equity interest in the business to a Swiss commercial organisation.
