After receiving the highest grade in the University of Miami School of Law’s nationally-accredited litigation skills program, I was fortunate to be one of very few law students selected to clerk for the Special Prosecutions Unit, which specialized in prosecuting child exploitation, human trafficking and violent crimes. In this role, I supported all phases of prosecuting criminal matters in federal court (e.g., legal research, draft legal memoranda and motions, and trial preparation) and gained first-hand experience on how the federal government puts together a criminal prosecution by learning from and working with a cross-sectional team of Assistant United States Attorneys, the FBI, and local law enforcement. I spent a majority of my time working on a sex trafficking case that eventually resulted in both defendants being sentenced to twelve (12) consecutive terms of life imprisonment by U.S. District Judge K.
