As a triage examiner, I am responsible for coordinating the initial medical treatment for injured workers as well as negotiating between employers, attorneys, and medical providers. My responsibilities include setting appropriate actuarial reserves, investigating whether claims are compensable, and informing various parties of developments in order to ensure that injured workers are able to return to work as quickly as possible while preserving quality of life.

Whereas my earlier role as a commercial driver was dependent upon my student status, I transitioned into unrestricted temporary assignments following graduation.

(M)IST, or (Mandatory) In Service Training, is a recently-founded program at UCSD Transit Operations designed to ensure the availability of ongoing instruction and training for active student drivers. After drivers have completed training, they may feel as though there are topics which are still unfamiliar to them, and there are many operational policies which are designed to be explained via on-the-job training. Student drivers can fast-track the process of learning about these operational aspects by taking (M)IST seminars where they are concisely explained. As one of the co-founders of the (M)IST program, I oversaw the development of a seminar designed to educate drivers about the online resources available to them.

As a trainer for UCSD Transit Operations, I serve as an instructor and de facto mentor for incoming drivers. As part of a training team comprised of both student and career employees, I take responsibility for informing new drivers about routes, safe driving practices, and Transit Operations policies. Trainers act not only as indispensable instructors in a student-driven workforce with an incredibly fast turnover, they must also act as exemplary employees and drivers, and are held to a much higher standard of both safety and personal conduct.

As a driver for UCSD's Transportation Services division, I am responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation for the staff, students, faculty, and guests of the University. To achieve this end, drivers must have excellent split-second decision making skills, and must be personable and approachable in order to uphold UCSD's reputation as a welcoming, inclusive campus.
