First and foremost, I would classify myself as a problem solver. I excel at being given a situation or project and finding creative solutions. I have always loved arts and animation, but i believe that the problem solving aspect is what drew me to Graphic Design.This has driven many of my jobs in the past. At Amazon, one of the positions I held was in the problem solving department there. Our job was to make it so that orders with issues managed to make it to the customers. Even as a mechanic in the military, without the ability to problem solve, you did not understand the concept of troubleshooting systems. Understanding problems is what drives me to learn everything about any issue I face. This is what drove me to get my EMT license as well. One of my core values is to help people. I really excel with a cause I believe in behind me. My military experience gave me a different outlook. They were the ones that taught me the value of problem solving, as well as discipline and teaching others. After leaving the military, my time in management taught me that great leaders make those around them better, and it is a philosophy I adhere to even today. You can't move up if you are not willing to bring the people around you up to be able to take your place. So many people are willing to blame failure on lack of learning or understanding of the people they are working with, but too often if they took the time to raise up the others around them and educate them, their problems would not exist.Every job I have held has put me in the position to use my ability to teach as a problem solving device as well. My time at Amazon, I instructed hundreds of people on how to do their jobs while I also took the time to make them understand how their job interacts with those around them and how to help others succeed in order to make the whole process a win. Much of my employment has been given over to survival and bringing up five children. A few years back, with my kids grown and not at home, I decided to go back to school to do something that I felt passionately about. I can lose myself in art projects for hours and never even know the time has passed. In the last few years at Manchester Community College, I have learned skills such as:- Publication Layout and Design- Animation- 3D Modeling- Motion Graphics- Story boarding- Adobe Photoshop- Adobe Illustrator- Adobe InDesign- Adobe After Effects- Branding Concepts and DesignNow I use my skills in problem solving as a security guard and an EMT to protect people and save lives.
