Arthur Faygenholtz, D.C. is a master teacher of Movement and founder of Dynamic Spinal Stretching/Stick Stretching. He is a Doctor of Chiropractic with 29 years of experience, specializing in sports injuries, in Santa Cruz , CA . A former distance runner and marathoner, with a B.A. in Physical Education, Dr. Arthur has instructional experience in anatomy, physical conditioning, Hatha Yoga, sports, rehabilitation training and Special Olympics.Dr. Arthur is the developer of the Dynamic Spinal Stretching/Stick Stretching Technique , an innovative, gentle and effective approach to fitness and body awareness through warming up, stretching, and toning. In 1974, while working in rehabilitation; training handicapped adults in wheelchairs for the Special Olympics. He integrated the use of the stick as a way to make athletes more flexible in their upper bodies. Later, in Portland , Oregon , while teaching physical conditioning and body awareness, he incorporated the use of a stick with yogic postures and principles, blended with Tai Chi movements. That's how Dynamic Spinal Stretching/Stick Stretching was born.In his Chiropractic practice, Dr. Arthur sees a variety of spinal conditions which usually come from a combination of factors: poor posture, lack of muscle tone, weak stomach and back muscles, overweight, inflexibility, and stress, just to mention a few.
