Humanity has defined itself by striving to discover and explore past the limits; whether it be the on seas, the sound barrier or earth's gravity, engineers have propelled mankind past great barriers. I am working towards becoming an Aerospace-mechanical engineer, because I want to continue to push our species to new heights, and make new discoveries. From a young age I have honed myself to embody aerospace. Whilst balancing the extreme workloads of 11 GCSEs and 4 A-levels + EPQ and achieving stellar results leading to multiple scholarships and positions of leadership, I strived to accumulate skills and hands on experience that would be the differentiator in industry. I self-taught advanced aerodynamics, as well as critical supporting skills like CAD, CFD, FEA, mesh operations and additive manufacturing. My passion and proficiency for aero has taken me on an incredible, intriguing and eye opening journey, spanning multiple projects including the FIN4 bike drag reduction foil, air launched fire retardant mines, a dissertation on aerodynamics applications for commuter cyclists and human powered vehicles. My exploration has brought me wealth of experience, including 3000+ compute hours of Simscale + Autodesk CFD and FEA, an extraordinary amount for a person as young as myself. I am always looking to stay on the absolute cutting edge of the field, and so have completed courses in both fluid dynamics and hypersonics/scramjets, as well as began learning industry standard Ansys at the advice of leading researchers and involved projects. My expertise in CAD has recently led me to consult for research and development establishment Spacefish Technologies, where I digitally reconstructed structures, as well as assisted research into LIDAR and mesh data visualisation methods. Having initially worked for Dundee Satellite Station as a prototype web and advertisement designer, my role in the organisation has grown to involve more creative directing, research and coordination- putting skills I learned in previous roles as a Cadet Chief Petty Officer among other leadership positions into practice. My objectives for the future are to push myself further on the cutting edge in the aerospace and aerodynamics fields, and sharpening related skills in CFD and engineering design, whilst developing new ones in the fields of composites, rocketry, topology optimisation/generative design, hypersonics and plasma actuation; whilst continuing to grow my role in Dundee Sat through enabling joint projects with current institution Heriot-Watt University, and others.
