Plug and Play is one of the earliest start-up incubators in the Silicon Valley. I've been partnering with a high-energy team to expand to three most beautiful cities of China: Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. For a little over two years time, we have grown to 100 ppl team, invested in more than 200 local deals and made acquainted with China's greatest corporations.

The California Plug Load Research Center (CalPlug) is the leading enabler for energy efficiency solutions in the use and design of appliances and consumer electronic devices. CalPlug is supported by the California Energy Commission to promote a cleaner, more efficient State of California. The center focuses on emerging technologies and user behavior studies for plug load devices. CalPlug addresses challenges in plug load efficiency for both residential and commercial buildings, by collaborating closely with utilities, manufacturers, advocacy groups, research institutions, and energy policy makers.• Produced industry leading “5W5s” efficiency solution for over 30 million set-top boxes in California;• Propose and close funding support from government agencies and industry partners; • Build strategic alliance through bi-annual cross-industry CalPlug conferences; set development roadmaps to coordinate industry collaborations; • Manage center technical strategies and applications; oversee project teams with over thirty technical staff and interns; assign team and resources to project cycles for prototypes, patents, presentations and publications.

The MIDAS group and INRF combination is no doubt one of the most innovative in engineering micro devices. This cross-culture, interdisciplinary mixer of 30+ engineers and scientists is the engine of cool inventions and prototypes.• Led R&D team to develop disruptive prototypes for a Fortune fifty telecom company; Achieved 10x figure-of-merit improvement over state-of-the-art in 1.5Y.• Produced sensor RFIDs for medical supply chain management for NSF-STTR Phase II project ($750K grant from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009)• Promoting frontier research results by publishing and presenting at international journals, conferences and trade shows.• Organizing and training research groups

The ultimate goal of experimental Plasma Physics has always been controlled fusion energy for mankind. My contribution to this hundred-year effort was a five-year glimpse on "fast-ion and plasma wave interaction" supported by U.S. Department of Energy ($100k/yr). I was an invited speaker of American Physical Society in 2008. I enjoyed collaborating with world-class scientists and coordinated six international journal publications with up to 12 co-authors. My skills in teaching and coaching originated from both of my parents' influence as life time educators. I naturally enjoy helping people in their learning and witnessing their growth. I've led various UC Irvine undergraduate level Engineering and Physics courses, discussion sessions and laboratory classes. I also advised several student research projects in McWilliams Plasma Laboratory.
