The Inclusive Leader: Taking Intentional Action for Justice and Equity (TIL) is a book, framework and movement I developed to help organizations build better, more diverse and inclusive workplaces. I share the rationale and benefits of businesses service as a force for good and highlights the strategies, team development and implementation process necessary for this organizational change. TIL explains that to create a diverse culture of inclusion and excellence requires vision and intentionality from the top down, a DEI Strategic Leadership Action Plan, the data to measure the progress and results, and the power to implement and monitor the plan. PPGJ is an organization that is set on building strong communities by developing leaders and empowering them to discover their own leadership potential in order to make an impact in the world. In 2014, I launched PPGJ in order to plant seeds of change and make the world a better place. PPGJ believes that everyone has the potential to make a difference in the world, no matter their title or position. My vision and determination has allowed me to build a team of like-minded individuals who believe in the mission of PPGJ and are using their special gifts and talents to educate and train emerging leaders. PPGI seeks to plant seeds of social change through education, training and community outreach. Leveraging a unique Leaders are Readers framework grounded in 5 developmental areas such as social-emotional learning, emotional intelligence, project based learning, anti-racism education and leadership development, PPGI is able to promote literacy and diversity in children's books and is committed to inspiring and equipping 10,000 leaders around the world. Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute seeks to plant seeds of social change through education, training, and community outreach. Inspired by Dr. Artika Tyner’s research, PPGJLI focuses on the future of social change and community-building through igniting the leadership within each person.“Planting people” is an organic process, which yields a great harvest over time. It starts from the ground up as a seed is planted until it takes root. This seed represents resistance against marginalization and oppression in order to further the cause of social justice. The seed also represents a partnership between social change agents and their global communities. Together, they are able to build a shared vision of a just society and engage in community-building. As the seed begins to germinate, community members start to view themselves as leaders with the capacity to address their own challenges and realize their power to resist oppression. The challenges we address are: Promoting reading and increasing diversity in books. We are currently working on a youth education project which seeks to empower leaders of tomorrow by promoting literacy, cultural awareness, and leadership development. Through workshops and seminars, PPGJ fosters leadership development and facilitates the process of social change.

The Center served as a convener of thought leaders, scholars, and students, and fostered a robust exchange of ideas and strategies for advancing the common good. Center was founded to support community members in addressing legal and policy issues while also providing practical experience and training for lawyers related to social justice and advocacy.-Annually trained 50+ law students to become leaders in criminal justice reform, civil rights, and human rights by focusing on case studies, service learning and community partnerships to meet the needs of the time and connect future lawyers with opportunities for change. -Developed Law and Public Policy Scholars Program, a faculty pipelining program which focused on training and equipping practitioner scholars from underrepresented backgrounds with practical strategies for social change. -Trained 4 research scholars, presented research at international conference and published in law journals

As University's first AVP in this role, advanced mission and goals related to diversity, equity, inclusion, affirmative action, and human rights by supporting existing programs, policies, and initiatives university-wide. -Built research-informed inclusive hiring practices and training, assessment and evaluation for 2k university employees and created and implemented DEI training curriculum to address implicit bias, overcome stereotype threats, and dismantle cultural taxonomic structures; training delivered across every unit and department from athletics to student affairs to faculty to staff-Served as subject matter expert and advisor to senior leaders, faculty, and student multicultural groups on DEI. -Gathered and analyzed data related to campus climate and academic achievement and built policy recommendations to leadership on enrollment management, fundraising, career development, and student success-Developed community partnerships with organizations such as Woman's Foundation, NAACP, International Leadership Institute to support educational outcomes for University students and supported K-12 pipelining initiatives-Led team of 5 diversity professionals and provided fiscal management for $1M budget, developed a strategic vision for University-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.-Co-chaired the Embracing our Differences as One Human Family strategic taskforce and oversaw the University Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

-Managed the Office of Diversity by providing fiscal oversight, managing staff, and developing programming. -Collaborated with students and student organizations to support the sustainability of affinity groups, offer individualized support and leadership coaching sessions, and develop multicultural events. -Chair of the Committee on Multicultural Affairs and lead the Committee’s efforts in promoting diversity, increasing multicultural awareness, and enhancing the inclusiveness of the law school community. Committee fostered university-wide collaboration in community engagement efforts, which included hosting and sponsoring diversity related events on topics such as: restorative justice, servant leadership, civil rights, and racial justice. These events have drawn together law, undergraduate, and other graduate students, faculty/staff, policy stakeholders, and the greater community to engage in community-building.

The Community Justice Project (CJP) focused on bridge building with community stakeholders by taking an in-depth look at improving the quality of life in the Twin Cities African American community and other distressed communities. CJP supported students as they utilized creative problem-solving techniques in order to engage in community development efforts. -Co-developed CJP program model, curriculum, and projects and trained and supervised law students as they used their legal skills such as legal research/analysis, engaging in legislative advocacy, promoting community organizing, developing policy campaigns, and conducting qualitative research to address emerging civil rights issues. -Collaborated with community partners and law students to implement practical solutions for addressing long standing community challenges, such as: police misconduct, economic revitalization, and racial disparities in the criminal justice and educational systems.Notable CJP Projects: Campaign for Prison Phone Justice | Oversaw statewide initiative to reform prison phone call industry practices which focused on reducing high costs of calls and ensuring families can remain connected. Led legal research/analysis, submitted public comments to the FCC, promoted community education, and organized key stakeholders. Community Awareness Project |Contributed to the development of a K-12 curriculum that focused on educating young people about their civil rights, the impact of a juvenile record/collateral consequences, and how to serve as leaders in their communities. -Supervised cohort of law students in serving the needs of clients with Family law concerns such as Domestic violence and orders for protection and dissolutions.
