As part of a digital transformation the Student Loans Company had a requirement for a UI Developer to aid their team in creating internal web apps. The main aim was to create accessible and highly usable apps to improve complex internal workflows. Working as part of a team of 30 in an agile environment my responsibilities included: Front-end development, UX design, usability testing, wireframing and rapid prototyping. This role included full training in agile methodology and gov.uk's GDS guidelines.

I was approached by Kiltr late 2013 to join their team as a Senior Product Designer. My main duties included: Mobile app design, Improving current Kiltr UX, designing mobile first responsive layouts, creating conceptual UI animations, consulting with clients who require bespoke digital social solutions, guiding them through a process from initial design brief to finished product.

In mid 2012 I was asked to fill the role of Lead Digital Designer within Premier Housewares. My responsibilities for this role included: Ecommerce website design, eBay store design, UI site mapping and landing page design for company sub-brands. Design, build and sending of New Product and Promotional marketing emails, develop ideas for digital marketing strategy, create new content for company’s existing digital services and interpretation of current website analytics to ensure better design, enhancing UX. Keep up to date with current web trends and standards, front end development of responsive templates, utilisation of CSS3, HTML5, PHP and jQuery. This role also includes art direction of product and marketing photography shoots and the writing of automation scripts for the conversion of photographs for all print and digital media.

After 2 years, I was asked to step into a Middleweight designer position where my responsibilities included: Brand development, art direction, design and development of brand strategy and guidelines. Produce highly creative concepts and ideas for company sub-branding. UI design for company intranet and website. Delegation of artworks to a team of 3 designers ensuring brand guidelines are adhered to. Produce high quality packaging design for national clients such as Morrisons, B&M, Tesco, BHS, Matalan, Dunelm and TJ Hughes. Head of producing extensive Product & Brand Catalogues with more than 5500 items. Implementation of team workflow systems, software training and Apple Mac maintenance. Design all required marketing literature for Senior Marketing Executive including magazine adverts, brochures, stationary, posters, banners and marketing emails.

I was employed by Premier Housewares in late 2008 as a Junior Designer / Marketing assistant where my responsibilities included: Production of high quality artwork for home furnishings packaging, including clients such as Au Naturale, Morrisons, Rosebys, BHS and TJ Hughes.Learn from more experienced designers taking on board techniques and strategies.Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines whilst taking on various tasks and responsibilities.Using photography, colour schemes, layout and illustrations to create effective designs for catalogues, brochures, interactive promotional emails, boxes, tags and labels. Working closely with head of marketing to enhance brand, increase visibility and improve communications.

Produced high quality artwork for labels and packaging to client specifications. Gained a wide knowledge of software packages and experience in print design. Learned the importance of communicating correct and accurate information through artwork. Shown the importance of colour management in relation to print cost. Working here helped show what working in the industry was like and gave good experience working within a design studio.
