Presently leading the all volunteer dance group where I select and teach historically correct dances and play the recorder.

The MA Small Business Development Center at Clark University contributes to the entrepreneurial growth of small businesses in Central MA by providing high quality, in-depth advising, training and capital access. Services are free to small businesses and are intended to help entrepreneurs build successful companies that positively impact the economic development of Central MA.

I have an impressive background in starting and running small technology related businesses. I am presently working with clients in the Central MA area sharing my knowledge as a business/technology advisor. My career highlights an interesting blend of business and technology where I have had the opportunity to engage in business management, business planning, finance, legal, fund raising, product development, marketing, operations and other aspects of running a small technology based business. In the early 90’s I took a sabbatical of sorts where I received an M.ED in Religious Studies with a concentration in business ethics. I have a strong interest in working with clients on specific projects with an end goal in mind.

Assumed leadership role with full P&L accountability of this technology incubator company after successful spin-out of FloDesign Wind Turbine Corp. Hold decision-making authority for business development, execution and quality of all programs and services. Provide entrepreneurial guidance to other spin-out candidates within the organization. Also provide leadership to engineers and project managers. Implemented program management processes emphasizing team dynamics and communication. Strengthened company’s financial position as a result of hands-on business/financial advisement.

Founded this engineering services company providing effective engineering development & management solutions to clients through a diverse team of contractors. Success can be attributed to strong project management skills and a solid understanding of machine design. Kardia was successful in managing and delivering innovative systems to clients such as Pfizer, Dow Agroscience and Kodak.

As Program Director I managed all aspects of a 3 year, $35M program to fully automate R&D stability testing for a major pharmaceutical company; a system comprised of a LIMS component and multiple robotic workcells. Successfully managed a team of up to 60 engineers during the requirements gathering, design, development and successful integration of this major program.As Technical Director for Pharmaceutical Programs I advised business development managers and program managers on technical aspects of all pharmaceutical programs within our group. I directed the implementation of the System/Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) used in the development of cGMP compliant software and hardware. Was a member of the corporate steering committee responsible for developing and monitoring overall strategy for all pharmaceutical programs at Foster Miller.

Founded and managed this technology company. SFA designed and manufactured automated laboratory instruments for use in pharmaceutical quality control. Led design and development team, developed business strategies, managed cash/working capital positions and successfully completed several rounds of outside private financing. Was instrumental in developing successful joint marketing agreements with Waters Corporation in Milford, MA and with Shimadzu Corporation in Japan. SFA conducted business worldwide and had distributors in Japan, Puerto Rico, Europe, Mexico, India and S. Korea.

I was hired during the early start-up stage of this robotics company as a Senior Engineer with a focus in mechatronics. My expertise was in the design, development and programming of microprocessor based peripheral systems with an emphasis on laboratory instrument interfacing.
