Rejoined Flexport to work on APIs supporting US import filings. A reduction in force and re-org in October 2023 moved me to another team extracting data from documents with AI. Another reduction in force in February 2024 eliminated the San Francisco team.

Took a breather to pursue some personal interests and do some traveling

Flexport Capital: Led design, implementation and rollout for a new loan management app, apart from the company's Freight Forwarding monolith.Flexport Customs: For a companywide microservices effort, identified how to split a large, very entangled set of product library features into 3 cohesive services. This high-level architecture served as guide for code refactors preparing for new microservices approach.Identified a product & technical path for eliminating a duplicated workflow that had resisted 3 previous product and engineering efforts to do so. Worked with business, product and engineering to get this work approved. Served as engineering lead for the project. Main results: - New features no longer needed to be implemented for 2 different workflows.- Improved separation of concerns, also supporting the microservices effort- Elimination of large chunks of old code, thus reducing the cognitive footprint of the application

Compound pioneered decentralized blockchain finance.• As the first non-founding engineer, collaborated closely with CEO, CTO and fellow engineers aswe iterated through initial ideas until eventually settling on the initial version that became the Compound known today.• I wrote smart contract code in Solidity, website code in Elm, backend code in Elixir andblockchain testing code in Typescript, all new languages for me then.

Led ongoing development of an existing trading platform for Lending Club's investor group. Participated in division-wide microservice re-architecture planning group.
