Frédéric then joined 8x8, which was renamed Netergy Networks, as General Manager and Vice President of Engineering for the company's software solutions. Frédéric delivered and deployed the first beta version of Odisei's hosted-iPBX technology and oversaw the completion of the commercially available hosted-iPBX service.

In 1998, Frédéric returned to France and founded Odisei, a startup developing the world's first hosted iPBX technology, and successfully funded Odisei through a round of business angels to sustain a strong team of 10 developers for 18 month. Frédéric based the iPBX technology on the Versit CTI Encyclopedia, that he co-authored while at Apple Computer, providing technical direction in cooperation with Odisei's Director of development.Frédéric then secured two VoIP customer premise equipment strategic partners, 8x8 and Calista. At the Voice on the Net trade show in March 1999, Frédéric demonstrated Odisei's technology to major telecom players, which clearly showed that Odisei was ahead of competition such as NetSpeak or Clarent. Based on its success, Odisei started merger discussions with partner 8x8. Frédéric oversaw the negotiation process and successfully closed a stock exchange acquisition deal valued at $14M, providing a 22 to 1 ROI in 14 month for the group of business angels.

In 1995, Frédéric joined Apple Computer in Cupertino, CA as the company's representative in the Versit consortium. Versit is an interoperability alliance between Apple Computer, IBM, Siemens-Rolm and AT&T aiming interoperability between communication products. As part of a group of 6 engineers representing the four companies, Frédéric co-authored the Versit Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) Encyclopedia, a 3,000 page, 6 volume industry specification for telecommunication systems and was solely responsible for defining three CTI protocols, including one for small footprint devices, proven by a working implementation. These specifications are now industry standards as part of the ECMA, ECTF as well as ITU telephony standards. At Apple Computer, Frédéric also held several senior engineering positions related to communication architectures for existing and future Macintosh operating systems.

Frédéric started his career at the Invest in France Agency, a French government consulting arm assisting foreign companies setting up operations in France. Frédéric was more particularly in charge of targeting high-technology companies in US southeastern states and assisting their R&D expansion in France. His duty included understanding clients international development strategy, site selection, French legal and fiscal support and grants and tax credits presentation.
