Played a key role in implementing change to provide new and expanded services to the university community. Was responsible for the planning, budgeting and the day-to-day operations of the campus-wide information network. Directed combined budgets in excess of $840,000 with a staff of seven professional, one clerical and 14 part-time student employees. Oversaw all telephone and telecommunication contracts, services and equipment. Successfully established the college’s first college-wide security and administrative planning committee. Instrumental in securing a National Science Foundation grant to install the Internet connection for the College, and oversaw the installation and implementation of Internet on campus. Coordinated the training of faculty and administrators on the use and capabilities of the Internet. Developed and implemented an outreach program for area high school students “linking” them to the College. This program was then expanded to area municipalities and other organization, establishing the College of St. Francis as a leader in education and technology. Served as the college’s representative to the Telecommunication Committee of the South Metropolitan Regional Consortium of Higher Education, serving as chairman of the Committee and later as the Consortium’s representative to the State of Illinois’s task force on telecommunication. Designed and implemented the consortium’s video network for distance learning and establish protocols that provided 97% uptime for classes. -
