In my years with VolkerRail I have been involved in development and testing of new innovations, providing in-depth technical support, and guiding certification and validation processes of several products. A short overview of several noticable projects;Innovations I have been involved with include wireless mechanical stress sensors, improving rail head defect repair methods, development of sustainable fauna fencing, developing of a sustainable and cost effective sound barrier for use along road and railways and several others that are still undisclosed.Technical support has been provided for a wide range of products, such as the VolkerRail Adjustable Base Plate, Railway sleepers, and central heating-based switch heating, as well as some engineering on specific components of the Galekopper brug bridge renewal process. Certification and validation guidance has been performed for projects such as VolkerRail's own sleeper design, validation of the adjustable baseplate, sound barrier, and most recently I have performed the role of test-leader for the new Electric Switch Heating system VolkerRail is developing. This includes several full scale tests with regard to snow and ice melting performance, energy consumption and vibration resistance. Part of this role was performing research and practical trials to improve system performance, which has led to a patented solution that significantly increases switch heating performance on both the new, and existing systems in the Netherlands.
