Professional Summary With over 31 years of experience, I am currently serving as the Technical Director (EMEA) at WSP-UK. Passionate about renewable energy and sustainable solutions, I am actively involved in projects encompassing the concept and detailed design of energy transition systems, including PV solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). His expertise extends to the design of power conversion systems and the detailed design of grid connection and integration. Currently, I lead the Renewable and Grid Connection Team for Development Consent Order (DCO) projects and also serve as Project Lead for Owner’s Engineering works for various initiatives. In this role, I ensure that engineering and procurement activities are well-aligned with the overall project program and managed under appropriate governance. I work closely with the Engineering and Land Lead to ensure that grid connection designs are both consentable and economically viable. Additionally, I collaborate with the Project Manager to align all engineering and procurement efforts with project timelines and governance requirements. I manage and hold accountable the project engineering teams, including contractors and consultants, oversee and document the design process, and coordinate project interfaces as required by the Project Manager.As a Design Head for almost 10 years, I have led a multidisciplinary team comprising PV Solar and BESS, EHV Cable, EHV Substation, Power Generation, Protection, Control and Automation, Mechanical, and Civil Design. I possess in-depth knowledge of Grid Code compliance studies based on DIgSILENT PowerFactory and innovative design concepts such as Digital Substations, Hybrid GIS, and Container-based Substations. My extensive experience includes power generation up to 800 MW, EHV/HV Substations up to 800 kV, and EHV Cable systems, with expertise in system design, relay coordination, and selectivity analysis.I bring global design experience, having worked with utility clients on transmission and distribution projects, as well as power projects (fossil fuel) in the USA and Iraq, and EHV substation projects in the UK (National Grid, SSEN), Iraq (Ministry of Electricity), Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Senegal, and other regions. I have also been involved in large-scale PV Solar and BESS projects, including 800 MW power generation plants in Kentucky, USA, 600 MW Elem Road Generation in the USA, and gas-based thermal power generation (GE Make), along with EHV substation projects up to 765 kV
