I worked as a Project Scientist in the Ken-Betwa River Link Project at the Wildlife Institute of India. I have also worked as a Project Scientist in the National Mission for Sustaining Himalayan Ecosystem Project (NMSHE), looking at the Climate Change Impacts on the natural habitat in the Indian Himalayan Region.My doctoral thesis examines the landscape-level changes in the State of Uttarakhand with a focus on forest fragmentation and its impacts on the protected areas and wildlife habitats across the state. I have published 13 research publication on various environmental biodiversity conservation issues. I am Canadian Queen Elizabeth Scholarship 2018 awardee, and have visited University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and developed a DIY-Activity Book “Climate Cool-Kit” for the school children to understand how the changing climate would affect them at the neighbourhood scale and the ways of sustainable living. At the Wildlife Institute of India, I was part of the team that developed the State-of-the-Art Visualization Laboratory that 3D projected the spatial visualization outputs for stakeholder consultations for policy decisions.I curate and manage a Photo Conservation Blog dedicated to raising awareness about unique wildlife across the globe. With a cumulative view count surpassing 470,000, this blog serves as a platform for showcasing the beauty and significance of diverse species. I was also part of the IUCN's Restoration Opportunities Assessment Methodology (ROAM) project coordinating the identification of degraded landscapes in the states of Haryana, Karnataka, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra; Development of exhaustive list of Forest land Restoration (FLR) interventions for the identified Drivers of Degradation; Spatial Prioritization of sites for the implementation of Forest land Restoration (FLR) interventions; Computing the Cost-Benefit Analysis and identification and mapping of Financial Opportunities at the state and at the central level to the proposed FLR interventions.I was also involved in the IUCN's Agriscapes project working with the agricultural communities in the district of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. My work here included primary data collection and interviews from various stakeholders including farmers, agriculture and horticulture departments, forest department, rural development department and other line agencies to understand the problem tree and also to map the ecosystem benefits from the nearby natural forests to the agricultural fields. The project was aimed at providing NbS solutions to improve the ecosystem services benefits and also to minimize the impacts of the existing problems faced by the agriculturists in the landscape including Human-Wildlife Conflict, Groundwater Unavailability, Inaccessible direct markets, ets. -
