My Central Banking career in Reserve Bank of India spans almost 34 years, plus initial years in a public sector bank. At the time of superannuation, I was the head of Enforcement Department in the Bank, Central Office, Mumbai. During my long career, I have worked in Department of Regulation, Department of Supervision, Enforcement Department, Monetary Policy Department, Department of Information Technology, Government Banking Department, Financial Inclusion Department, etc. Besides, I served as RBI Nominee Director on the Boards of five premier banking and non-banking entities. I had also a three-year stint as Regional Director for the State of Rajasthan.(i) Regulation & Supervision of NBFCs for eight years: Served as Principal Inspecting Officer [PIO] for several such companies. Examined business models as well as risks & controls in NBFCs. Worked on policy matters for NBFCs.(ii) Regulation & Supervision of universal/small finance/payment banks for twelve years: Handled banking regulation in areas such as stress testing, authorization of banking outlets, reconstruction & liquidation of banks, approval of financial services, monitoring & reporting, etc. Acted Senior Supervisory Manager [SSM] for banks and was associated with the first Asset Quality Review (AQR) as well as Risk-based Supervision (RBS). Participated in several committees on RBS guidelines, AQR guidelines, prompt corrective action (PCA), operational risk, MCLR, stress testing, supervision for small finance / payment banks, financial resolution, etc.(iii) Enforcement Actions against Banks & non-Banks: Handled enforcement actions against universal, small finance, and payment banks, NBFCs, cooperative banks, credit information companies, non-bank payment system operators, asset reconstruction companies, etc. Involved in fine-tuning and upgrading enforcement framework.(iv) Digital Transformation: Involved in technological development in RBI in the areas of IT infrastructure, Data Centers. e-Kuber, Internal Applications, Payment System [RTGS/NEFT, etc.], Cyber Security, Government Banking, IT subsidiaries, automation of currency function, etc. (v) Monetary Policy: Participated in RBI policy making on regulation & development subjects.
