Public Health Inspector

As a Public Health Inspector my main duty and responsibilities are environmental management with health, investigation and control of communicable diseases, maintenance of occupational health, school health including immunization, food safety, control of non-communicable diseases, supporting of management of health activities during disasters, health education and health promotion and enforcement of public health law.And also I can futher expand and have opportunitise to expand my career through grade promotions as Divisional, District, Provincial Supervising Public Health Inspectors, Principal Public Health Inspector in the Ministry of Health, Tutors, Senior Tutors, and Principals in training schools. And also have opportunities to promote to Health Education Officers, Food and Drugs Inspectors and other open promotions in the government sector. Also, I had the opportunity to study the health promotion degree course conducted by the Rajarata University very successfully with paid leave from the Ministry of Health.The importance of the duties of the Public Health Inspector, who is a crucially important member of the Health Team in the Health Unit, has increased even more, with the introduction of the Primary Health Care system which forms the basis of the delivery of community health care in Sri Lanka. In keeping with the different components of the PHC system, and also in keeping with the advances the public health delivery system has undergone in the past decades, there have been very significant changes in the duties and responsibilities of a Public Health Inspector.
