As head of the Business Solutions and Innovation department my team and I are responsible for our core terminal applications, as well as our innovation and data platforms. Led the launch of our saas planning software used by companies who interact with us, as well as the launch of (paid) premium products on both web and mobile applications.As Innovation Manager I seek out opportunities to create non-traditional products and services, managing the innovation process from POC to live product. Today our innovation products are accessed by thousands of customers and stakeholders through our web portal, mobile app, and API endpoints.

Manage the digital department at Mirum Belgium. Keep tech knowledge up to spec with our team and selected partners. Set up and execute digital strategies from the mundane to the exotic (ask about our robot). Worked with several offshore development companies to keep budgets on track and projects cutting-edge.

Built and ran our first few prototypes. Helped set up the company.

Pitech+Plus is a digital agency providing the platforms and frameworks that modern companies use to do business. We've provided comprehensive e-commerce, CMS, and mobile solutions to numerous advertisers and startups. As Pitech's presence in the Benelux and neighboring regions, I turned business KPI's into technical realities with our team of 250 digital specialists.

Went from journalist to publishing. Worked on various aspects of the small magazine, such as meeting with people for interesting stories, and advertising clients. Built the business from within (website, reaching out to advertisers), and from the outside (attended conferences, networked, etc.)

A rare and privileged exposure to breaking free from the engineering method of problem solving, where I have been forced to truly learn the meaning of "out of the box thinking". This was a very revealing experience and has had a profound impact on my professional and even personal views of life. It was particularly interesting to be part of The Economist at a time that many people were switching over from print to web to digital (tablets).

Technical consulting: Consulted on system improvements and automation. Increased profit margins while reducing component cost of pre-existing company products (thin-film and carbon nanotube fabrication systems). Developed a web-accessible PC interface (Labview) for a hot-filament-chemical-vapor-deposition system, automating common operations, enhancing product life-span, reducing operational costs, and opening up future post-sale revenue ventures for the product. Extending the automation software to the entire line of Blue Wave deposition tools. Automation software has already resulted in significant savings on equipment and peripherals.Marketing: Consolidating and streamlining marketing procedures at Blue Wave. Editing product manuals and promotional documentation, modifying product appearances. Developed an enhanced web-presence of the company by making a line of product related informative videos.

Learned to be productive in a fast paced high-tech research environment, making tight deadlines, presenting research to large audiences, and managing students and equipment.* Developed multiferroic magnetoelectric MRAM memory to one day replace current USB sticks and other solid state drives.* Constantly assesses progress and making changes to process flows and approaches to achieve goals. * Manages several research objectives, as well as the students and technical staff necessary to complete these objectives before deadlines.* Trains new graduate students on high-tech equipment used for semiconductor development. * Published in reputable journals.* Has given presentations at annual conferences: Materials Research Society (November 2009) and the American Physical Society (April 2009).
