✯ I led a cross-functional team in developing product and technology roadmaps for the Orion Visual Cortical Prosthesis system, aligned with overall business and commercial strategy. ✯ In this role, I also formed and led a global Systems Research and Technology group to leverage government funding and drive external R&D collaboration. During my tenure, I have delivered multiple innovative technologies to date to augment the performance of patients implanted with visual prosthesis, including thermal sensors, stereo sensors, AI driven object recognition technologies, and more. I am immensely proud to have been successfully awarded five NIH/NEI grants totaling $30M+ in funding to date.

✯ In this role, I served as Project Lead for the comprehensive overhaul of the electronic wearables and software of the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System. I led a talented team of 18 developers, engineers, and researchers in designing, developing, and delivering the commercial product. I also coordinated and collaborated across interdisciplinary teams to advance critical product elements and projects and managed a $4M R&D budget for product development. I am proud to have led the next generation Argus II electronic wearables and software strategy in gaining both FDA & CE approval for commercial deployment in 2020. ✯ I have also received industry praise for enabling the Orion 1 Cortical Visual Prosthesis externals system in gaining approval for an early feasibility study, in just two years, a system that was designated as a “Breakthrough” device by the FDA.

✯ I was promoted to this role to serve as design and development lead and oversee a talented 8-member cross-functional team in designing and developing the externals portion of the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System that gained commercial approval in the U.S. and abroad. ✯ During this time, I also played a critical role in significantly advancing active implantable neuro-stimulator system design.

✯ In this role, I advanced design and development activities in support of the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis system, including cross-functional activities spanning implant and externals development, scientific research, field clinical engineering, quality assurance, device risk management and critical regulatory functions

✯ I designed and implemented low-level and system level firmware for a neuro-prosthetic active implantable medical device as an Embedded Software Developer and served as Engineering Lead for the successful completion of the Argus I Retinal Prosthesis feasibility study
