CBS is a nonpartisan, non-government, non-profit, multidisciplinary research, advocacy and public education institution working on Bangladesh and its peoples issues from public interest perspective.Our MandateTo understand the local and global economic, social, cultural and political contexts that may facilitate and/or pose challenges for the development of Bangladesh and to search for models of progress deemed relevant in the local context. To engage with Bangladesh’s major public issues and people’s concerns by initiating new policy ideas and to critique the policies that stem from conservative, time-worn values and pro-oppressive systems to shape the national debate. To act as a clearing house of ideas, information and research on Bangladesh and its people’s affairs, and to maintain a data bank on Bangladesh or aspects of Bangladeshi lives.To collaborate with other agencies, institutions and organizations, including universities, colleges, management institutions, cultural organizations and other nonprofits as well as the media in Bangladesh and abroad for the promotion of the objective of CBS.To develop capacity to bridge the gap between research in social and aesthetic sciences and their application in local context in collaboration with various institutions especially with those that are concerned with the overall development of Bangladesh and its social and environmental ecology.To campaign for and against issues that are likely to impact the region to ensure progress, As a learning organization CBS will continuously attempt at keeping the people abreast of the new thresholds of progress i.e. dirt-free energy, ecological agriculture, or post-carbon society.

Leela Foundation is a non-profit entity founded by Arup Rahee ( founder and ensemble lead- Leela) and his friends to work for the greater objectives of the Leela Ensemble: social and cultural justice.Through organizing and supporting critical research, debate and discourse on the crosscutting issues of art, society, culture and politics; through promoting critical music, theater, art and literary works, through organizing and supporting critical art education, through providing platforms to spread critical awareness on social and cultural affairs, Leela foundation strives for contributing in the democratic transformation of our society and culture.

First of its kind in Bangladesh, Center for Entrepreneurship Research is dedicated to promote local economic, social and cultural Entrepreneurship in Bangladesh through policy research, policy dialogue and public education.

Leela is the only musical ensemble in Bangladesh that has the capability to render both the traditional and akhra styles of folk/baul-fakir songs as well as its own folk-rock fusion numbers concurrently in the same session. কারও ব্যক্তিগত ইচ্ছা বা অনিচ্ছায় একটা নগরী মানুষের নগরী হয়ে ওঠে না। বরং একটা নগরীর চরিত্র কেমন হবে, সেটা অনেকটাই নির্ভর করে সেই নগরীর শাসন ও পরিচালনা পদ্ধতি এবং উৎপাদন সম্পর্কের ওপর, সেই নগরীর ইতিহাস-ঐতিহ্য এবং নিজেদের অধিকার রক্ষায় জনগণের সংগ্রামী ঐতিহ্য রক্ষার সংস্কৃতি প্রভৃতির ওপর। এবং এই সবকিছুই আবার স্থিরও নয়, ক্রমশ পরিবর্তনশীল। এই সব কিছু দিয়েই নির্ধারিত হবে সেই নগরে প্রাপ্য রসদ ও সুযোগ-সুবিধার বন্টন কিভাবে ঘটবে, নগরীর অধিবাসীদের বর্তামন কতটা স্বাচ্ছন্দপূর্ণ হবে, ভবিষ্যত প্রজন্মগুলোকে কিভাবে গড়ে তোলা হবে, তার প্রতিবেশ কতটা রক্ষিত হবে। এবং এটাও স্মরণে রাখা দরকার, এমনকি মধ্যযুগের য়ুরোপের নগরীগুলোও সামন্ততন্ত্রের মাঝে ক্রমাগত লড়াই করেই নিজেদের গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিল।

LOKOJ started working in 1999 as a study circle and activist group to take part in the struggle for radical social transformation and to work with other forces having similar aim and goal in solidarity. LOKOJ actually has set an example of engaged research and activism regarding the people’s cause. LOKOJ is one of the pioneer organizations of its kind played a vital role in setting the social movement agenda in Bangladesh. We have mainstreamed issues such as, politics of aid, politics of development, the role of the IFIs, the role of the TNCs,( ‘development aggression’, ‘poverty reproduction’ etc are the phrases originally coined by LOKOJ) politics of lifestyle, and the alternatives, among others, for action, debates and discourse.
