Since 1921, the BGC Toronto Kiwanis, headquartered at 101 Spruce Street, has provided after-school educational and recreational programs. In 2020, the Cabbagetown Youth Centre (CYC) and Boxing Club merged with BGC Toronto Kiwanis. To meet the objectives of this merger, we embarked on a $3M capital campaign to renovate the building and bolster support for programs in operations in this sixth location for BGC Toronto Kiwanis.

More than 1.5 million people visit High Park each year, and that number is climbing. Toronto’s social and economic conditions are rapidly changing, especially in High Park-Parkdale neighbourhoods, and as more green spaces disappear from the city’s core, caring for our beloved Park has never been more important. As the park’s lead education provider, the High Park Nature Centre aspires to help more people explore our green spaces, and participate in our extensive programs and stewardship activities happening year-round. To deliver on this vital vision, we’re embarking on $6 million capital campaign: A Home in High Park, in partnership with the City of Toronto, to develop a dedicated High Park Visitor and Nature Centre, to open in 2021 within our Forest School building. This once-in-a-generation opportunity will provide a welcoming front door to High Park and continue our efforts to foster a community that is equipped with the knowledge and skills to preserve High Park today, and for future generations.
