Dr. Arvind Kumar Lal holds Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics. After completing Ph.D. from University of Roorkee (now, I.I.T., Roorkee), he joined Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala (T.I.E.T) (Deemed - to -be - university) in 1996 as Lecturer in Mathematics where he became Professor in 2017. Before that, he also worked as faculty of mathematics in Technological Institute of Textile and Sciences, Bhiwani from 1994 to 1995. He has published number of quality research papers in international journal of repute. He has chaired a number of national and international conferences/workshop. He has also been reviewer of several journals. He has made a very distinguished contribution to mathematics education academically, pedagogically and administratively. Prof. Lal is a recipient of Khosla Research Award of University of Roorkee in 1991 for his outstanding contribution in research.He is the first Head of School of Mathematics which was established as an interdependent entity in 2015. Growing steadily since its establishment, School of Mathematics is a dedicated academic unit contributing to the mission and vision of T.I.E.T.. As a Head, School of Mathematics and Chairman, Board of Studies, he provided a boost to the admission of number of research scholars for Ph.D. degree as well as M. Sc. degree in Mathematics and Computing. He has introduced a number of theoretical and practical courses in addition to examination reforms. During his tenure of headship, the School of Mathematics ranked second among all the Engineering Departments and Schools of T.I.E.T..
