A member of the management team of a meetings and events agency, I was responsible for all aspects of the office technology:- On infrastructure, I was instrumental in moving all office servers, software systems and telephony system onto ‘the cloud’ ahead of an office move, thereby realising great cost savings at the new office- On internal systems, I designed and developed 5 different web applications that integrated with a core database system, allowing different user types to interoperate in real-time. This meant internal users, clients, venues, event suppliers, and accommodation guests could all access data and communicate through a central, integrated system. The role required an in-depth understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle of meetings and events, and the associated challenges of meetings and events technology. I developed strong business expertise in Strategic Meetings Management Programs (SMMP) for corporate events teams and a good understanding of global SMMP systems such as Cvent, Starcite and Arcaneo Metron, as well as UK-based systems, such as GRATIS, BookIt, Venuebase and ABC Tools.

I project managed the development and delivery of a region wide web application for Lincolnshire Tourism (www.visitlincolnshire.com), which consisted of a central database of over 700 SME tourism businesses in the county and multiple web sites for different audiences. The solution was a Software as a Service (SaaS), hosted on ‘the cloud’ and involved integration with a payment gateway for e-commerce, as well as knowledge of Online Travel Agencies, GDS’ and hotel switches.I managed the project lifecycle, from pre-sales presentations, through project management to post-delivery account management. I also provided similar roles for the tourism board of Flanders and Limburg as well as supported similar projects for the Yorkshire Tourist Board, Explore Northamptonshire and the Wales Tourist Board.

As an internet consultant, I advised on internet based business opportunities in the UK for US company TravelNow.com Inc. and Australian company World.Net Services Ltd after carrying out thorough market analysis and business evaluation. I helped the latter setup its UK office before becoming an employee.
