As a member of the leadership team, I helped in organizing different events including educational workshops and a citywide youth climate summit, both of which were unfortunately cut short because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. I along with a group of 11 other interns worked in developing and researching community improvement and development initiatives throughout the City of Chicago after discussing and exploring many of the issues the city faces. We learned about different forms of communication and activism and discussed these in the context of current world situations.

I was 1 of 100 Chicago Public Schools High School students selected to take part in the CPS/Northwestern Student Health Leaders Program. I learned about various health issues affecting Chicago communities and created a Public Service Announcement, to be shared by CPS, about sleep deprivation. I learned valuable leadership skills and created an individual intervention about sleep deprivation causes and prevention. Throughout the program, I also got to hear from many exceptional speakers about a variety of topics including self-improvement, mental health, future careers, life experiences, and self-advocacy.
