Current ProjectsUltra-white paints: Developing a set of paints using BaSO4 and Al2O3 pigments with over 95% solar reflectance for passive daytime radiative cooling applications. Alongside novel paint materials, I am iterating through numerous topcoats with high-UV resistance to increase the long-term reflectivity of underlying paints. SiO2 Aerogels: Using genetic algorithms to study novel aerogels from 50-150um to understand how varying thickness changes the phonon-polariton resonance of SiO2 bonds by determining the dielectric permittivity using experimentally determined optical data. In conjunction with simulation, I am performing FTIR and Raman spectroscopy on samples to determine how changing in bond angle impacts optical properties.Non-Reciprocal Radiative Cooling: Running simulations to determine the optimal angular and spectral range over which a non-reciprocal emitter would provide the maximum cooling power if used as a radiative emitter. I am considering different geometries and atmospheric conditions to find optimal characteristics depending on deployment and geographical location.

Provide one-on-one instruction to high-school students to help them succeed in various AP and Honors Math and Physics courses.

I work at the MRL (Materials Research Laboratory) in the Clemént Group at UCSB where I run simulations on potential Na-ion battery materials to predict NMR parameters. My role involves working with various DFT codes to help accurately fit experimental data and running calculations to develop more efficient algorithms to help elucidate the local structure of Li and Na-ion battery materials

Helping students with understanding material taught in Physics 101, a complex anaylsis course taught through the UCSB Physics department. I provide support to undergraduates during office hours and weekly section meetings.

Participating in the NSF funded RISE (Research in Science and Engineering) program at UCSB wherein I am responsible for running DFT calculations on Mg doped NASICON crystals. I will be studying the effects of geometry relaxation on predicting ssNMR shifts on P species in NVP polymorph.

Participated in the NSF funded FLAM (Future Leaders in Advanced Materials) program at UCSB wherein I am responsible for running DFT calculations on various NASICON structures. I will develop my skills using running simulations and continuing working with CRYSTAL to predict NMR properties of paramagnetic materials.
