Power Engineering TraineeBritish Columbia Institute Of Technology May 2024 - Jun 2024Burnaby, British Columbia, Canadaโข Completed a competitive four-week training program recognized by Technical Safety BC as equivalent to six months of qualifying steam time.โข Performed start-up, maintenance and LOTO on high-pressure NG/No.2 diesel fuel operated watertube steam boilers, including Nebraska boiler (250 psi), VIEW boiler (150 psi), and low-pressure Cleaver Brooks firetube (15 psi) and electric boiler in a 3rd class high pressure steam generation plant.โข Managed Emerson and Siemens HMI DCS systems to control and coordinate various plant auxiliary equipment, ensuring desired plant performance and production demand fulfillment.โข Conducted boiler water quality tests (i.e., pH, alkalinity, hardness, conductivity, etc.) and did intermittent blowdowns as needed to sustain optimal operations and machinery longevity.โข Documented log readings and gained hands-on experience in operating steam turbine driven generators (i.e., back pressure impulse Shinko turbine generator) and synchronizing them to the BC Hydro grid.โข Learned residential and commercial electrical works, including wiring, SMAW, OFW, piping, tubing, as well as soldering and brazing.
