Transition to National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) As a Local Area Coordinator (LAC), we work directly with participants and support them in accessing and successfully transitioning to the NDIS. This includes program support, planning, community development and raising community awareness through positive culture. I focus on supporting our team in its changeable environment. My team is based at Burwood NSW and we look after the Sydney community. I was recruited since the launch of the LAC program, assisting the South West Sydney district then moved onto the community high needs' participants in the Sydney district. One of the important skill requirement for this role is communication. We have received a number of positive feedback through NDIA. We are now moving forward to work implementation phase to focus on the participants goals and community engagement. We are an adaptable team, working in a changeable environment. For that reason, it is important for us to be able to be flexible and proactive. We are increasing in numbers and looking to grow our teams. As an individual, I have an understanding of the daily challenges in a LAC role. I have been fortunate enough to have a great team leader and a mentor on expanding my inter-personal skills for this role. I am confident that I will be empowering my colleagues aside my duties with positive and interactive approach. Part of this role requires assessing applications for eligibility for services and gathering client information to match needs to housing products. Managing tenancies and properties in-line with legislation, Housing NSW policies, and maintenance standards. Our further development, relationships are along with services that provides and assist communities with non-government agencies to improve our clients’ living circumstances.
