There have been various occasions where I have been representing Finn Church Aid or Kontiohautomo (Bruin Tank) in issues around preventing violent extremism. I have been training church employees in the topic (how to support minority communities in the issue), speaking to government officials in Brussels and Oslo, interviewed in the national television, writing columns, posts and thematic expert articles on the topic.It is essential to notice that religious communities need to work together and Christian communities need to support Muslim communities in the topic. Many times Muslim communities are accused of being responsible for extremist attacks, which is not true. Even though it is important that Muslim communities state this, it is equally important that Christian churches and communities are supporting Muslim communities in speaking this out. This is also why I have been one of the key persons in setting up "Shoulder-to-Shoulder" concept in Finland. This concept brings religious communities together to support each other.

FinnChurchAid has wide range of different religions represented in its staff and believes in inter-faith dialogue as means to understand each other's own religion more deeply. Religion is a great asset in developing contexts.Ecumenical Envoy at FinnChurchAid supports organisation's leadership and keeps close contacts with Lutheran churches and its bishops, with other Christian communities in Finland and abroad as well as with other religious communities in Finland. Ecumenical Envoy helps FCA leadership to understand the religious landscape not only in Finland, but also internationally.

As a member of the WCC Central Committee I was nominated to participate in the meetings of the committee. Through this position it was possible to have a wide overview of the ecumenical and external relations of the church.

Conference of European Churches organised its 12th General Assembly in Trondheim, Norway in June 25 - July 2, 2003. Thousands of participants from all over Europe participated in the event and in order to have everything functioning, there was a stewards programme organised for the conference. Approximately 60 stewards were trained for the event. I was responsible for planning the training programme, selecting the stewards and organising the selection process, organising training programme and setting up the stewards programme for the event.
