The focus of the role is to build capability & capacity in the network and support place-based working focused on tackling inequalities through football (in terms of access to opportunities to play, coach and volunteer). This is achieved by connecting national initiatives to local opportunities, and working with partner networks and local stakeholders, in order to sustain outcomes in priority places and more widely.

The role involves the delivery of The FA's Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching awards and this is primarily done through formal coach education courses that include pratical and theory elements. The role also involves in-situ visitis where coaches enrolled on courses are visited within their own clubs and environments and supported with their development.

Providing football coaches from within the grassrotts game with mentoring support in order to aid their development. The mentoring process allows myself and coaches to discuss how the relationship can best suit their needs and mentoring support can be provided in a variety of ways including session design, practical delivery, match day observation and CPD support.

My role at the West Riding County FA is to provide grassroots players, teams, clubs and leagues with the necessary support and guidance to ensure their continued participation in the sport or to encourage them to take up the game. I also lead on inclusion within the County and champion diversity, inclusion and equality within the organisation and our partners. A large part of my role is the engagement of under-represented groups and I try to use innovative techniques and practises that remove the barriers to their participation.

The Himmat Project is a charity based in a deprived community which aims to provide opportunities for local children to develop their social and interpersonal skills. My role was to co-ordinate all community sports activities, including the running of various junior sports teams, after school sessions and new project development. In the last 12 months of my employment this included mountain biking and handball schemes in conjunction with the County Sports Provider which were extremely successful. I also dealt with the various national governing bodies in regards to child welfare and coach education/development. I lead on a proposed asset transfer for a piece of derelict land which I aimed to convert into a usable sports field for community use. I successfully developed and presented a business plan to the Local Authority and secured £75,000 of Sports England funding to develop the site. I also managed a successful volunteering programme which has seen over 25 school leavers’ gain the experience and skills needed to move into paid employment within various sectors of the sports industry including coaching, refereeing and governance.

The role involved the development, planning and coordinated delivery of 2 training sessions per week for the Men’s (16-19) football teams as well as weekly BCS league fixtures. The role was part of the college’s enrichment programme and since beginning the role, uptake within the college increased to over 40 students a week regularly engaged in football.

The business provided corporate and VIP hospitality packages to live events such as music concerts, sports matches and celebrity meet and greets. My role was primarily to source new customers and to develop relationships with existing clients to gain their repeated business. As well as this my focus was on finding new venues we could work with and building new packages to add to our list of available products. The business achieved excellent growth as a direct result of my creative thinking and ability to work irregular hours when required.

My duties were to ensure the business ran properly and efficiently and this involved opening and closing the shop, balancing cash/stock on a daily basis, correctly despatching mail, dealing with customer queries as well as training counter clerks as required. I enjoyed working there as I feel problem solving and customer services are 2 of my strong qualities and I also thrive in situations where I am allowed to manage/lead others.
