I have a keen interest in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics and Wind tunnel testing, CAD modelling and manufacturingDuring my undergraduate degree, in Aerospace Engineering, I have developed a strong interest in the field of aerodynamics and wind tunnel analysis, which stemmed from the courses such as Fundamental of Fluid Mechanics, Basic & Applied Aerodynamics, High Speed Aerodynamics, Aircraft Stability & Control (AERO-211, AERO-311, AERO-312, AERO 322); and Wind tunnel testing (AERO-322). This led me to do my undergraduate degree thesis titled “Applicability of 3D printed fighter aircraft model in subsonic wind tunnel” PDF, aiming to analyse the aerodynamic performance and structural strength of the 3D printed fighter aircraft model. The model used in this investigation was a scaled-down model made from polylactic acid plastic (PLA). Wind tunnel tests were performed at 120mph wind speed at various angles of attack and validation was done by comparing wind tunnel results with CFD results. The findings proved that 3D printed aircraft model can be used in wind tunnels as an inexpensive alternative for early testing in the design process.Keeping in view my research interests, after my bachelors, I joined Aircraft R&D organization AvRID PAC Kamra Pakistan, as a design engineer. There, I have started working with the Computational Fluid Dynamics team. There, I learned geometry formulation in CAD softwares (CATIA, SolidWorks), geometry cleaning and generation of computational meshes for CFD analysis, which is performed in Geomagic, ICEM etc. For running CFD simulation we used OpenFoam, Fluent. To enhance my knowledge, I decided to pursue my MS in Aerospace Engineering along with the job, with a specialization in Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics, from Air University which is one of the top research institutes of my country for Aerospace Engineering. There I have taken courses such as Advanced Compressible and Incompressible Fluid Dynamics (AE-610 & AE-611), Computational Fluid Dynamics (AE-630 & AE-730) and Design of Aerospace Vehicle (AE-617) etc. My master degree thesis named, “Computational Modelling of Dynamic Stability Derivatives of flight vehicles using Quasi Steady Frame rotation”, was aimed at computing dynamic stability derivatives using steady state CFD simulation.
