I've worked as a correspondent, sub-editor, television input producer and digital/online producer for both international and Pakistani news media - reporting from Karachi, Cairo, Islamabad, New York City, the Swat Valley, Balochistan, South Waziristan and elsewhere. My focus is on investigative, long-form reporting in print and online media, but I'm equally at home in breaking news environments, filing or editing copy, filing pictures, and handling video as a producer.Currently, I'm a news editor with Agence France-Presse (AFP), one of the world's largest wire news services, at their Americas regional hub in Washington, DC. I handle news and features copy from all over the region, with a particular focus on the US Presidential Election 2024. Until 2022, I was the Pakistan digital correspondent for Al Jazeera English, where I'd previously been involved with the network's award-winning coverage of the Arab Spring protests (specifically contributing to coverage that won the Online News Association's Breaking News award), the leaking of Pakistan's Osama Bin Laden Dossier and other coverage. I performed roles both at the newsdesk and in the field. My focus at Al Jazeera was covering Pakistan, and from 2014 to 2022 I was based in Islamabad, producing news and features from across the country, as well as managing web content and coverage plans. After a year-and-a-half with the Thomson Reuters wire news agency as their Pakistan Correspondent, I rejoined Al Jazeera English in January 2017.For a full list of clippings from my time at Al Jazeera: http://aje.me/asadhashim
