Assisted in managing construction and operating contracts with Covanta Energy and HECO PPA, prepared contract amendments and Change Orders (including determination of merit and engineer’s fair price estimate), acted as the City’s Startup Engineer for the Third Boiler project, prepared the annual capital, operating ($100M), refurbishment and revenue budgets, reviewed all related invoices, evaluated alternate wastes, master planning, responded to audits and information requests.

Evaluated waste conversion technologies, prepared Environmental Assessments and Requests for Proposals, prepared and administered contracts with consultants and researchers, reviewed environmental reports and life-cycle analyses, responsible for office safety (including training, supplies, and emergency plan), and led tour groups.

Completed Masters Thesis from June 2005-June 2007, specializing in bioreactor landfills and special waste. Interacted with NC State University, University of Hawaii, and Waste Management Inc. from June 2007-June 2008 to investigate elevated wellhead temperatures at Waimanalo Gulch Landfill. Conducted field measurements. Assembled lab procedures to analyze waste samples, monitored effect of temperature on gas, leachate, and solids parameters.
