Associate Process Engineer

Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area

I am thrilled to begin working as an Associate Process Engineer within the Kymanox Academy in RTP, NC. This 2-year rotational program will give me experience in 4 large functional areas within the life sciences and biotech industry. My first rotation was with the Quality Engineering Department at Kymanox and lasted 6 months. My coworkers in the QE department were absolutely amazing and it was sad to rotate out of the group.

Administrative Assistant Intern

Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

During college, I shadowed surgeons in multiple surgery centers around Raleigh. This would not have been possible if not for the help from DJ Hill, CEO and co-founder, and Sean Rambo, COO and co-founder, from Compass Surgical Partners. After graduation, I wanted to give back after all their generosity. To do so, I provided them my free services to help with whatever was needed while I was looking for full-time employment. During this time, I learned valuable insight into the business world, especially regarding medical administration and all that goes into managing medical spaces. Being able to sit in on meetings gave me a great understanding on how a successful company's C-suite should operate. Though this experience may not have been in my Biomedical Engineering field, I learned so much about business and professionalism in the daily work place that will help me in whatever my next step may be.

Engineering Ambassador

As an N.C. State Engineering Ambassador we are some of the first faces that prospective students see when touring N.C. State. And as an engineering ambassador we don’t stop there. We continue to interact with the engineering students during their time at state through engineering events and being teaching assistants in the engineering classes. Engineering ambassadors are the ones who run the engineering open houses, the engineering orientations and are the behind scenes workers for almost all engineering events. We do information sessions for prospective students and do outreach events at local elementary schools or middles schools teaching students about what it’s like to be an engineer. The best part about this job is seeing prospective students faces when we tell them about all the opportunities that NC state has to offer. Sharing my experiences of N.C. State and how it has affected my life makes them what to come so much more. Being and Engineering Ambassador is a privilege and a great honor and I am so thankful to have this role on campus.

Engineering Mentor In The Engineering Village At Metcalf Hall

Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

As an sophomore, my role as Engineering Mentor detailed me living in Metcalf Hall in the Engineering Village. I lived on the 11th floor with freshman to help them transition between high school and college. I put on community events and acted as a mentor throughout the year. In the EV we did many service activities and outreach events allowing freshman to not only get connected on campus but also in the surrounding Raleigh area. I learned lessons in leadership, communication, inclusiveness and learned how to become a respected role model.

Atlantis Fellow

Toruń Area, Poland

I had the unbelievable opportunity to go to Torun, Poland through NC State Study abroad office’s connection with the Atlantis Fellowship. The Atlantis fellowship is a program that helps pre-medicine students see and experience healthcare in a different country by shadowing doctors abroad. My program’s location was in Torun, Poland and I got to shadow doctors in the hematology, rehabilitation, intensive care and orthopedic wards of the hospital. It was a fantastic experience that opened my eyes to the difference and similarities of different cultures and healthcare processes. Highly recommended for those wanting shadow experience in a hospital in a different country.

Intern

Holly Springs Surgery Center

Holly Springs, Nc

As an Intern I had the outstanding ability to shadow doctors, nurses, and other staff members learning about the medical profession and the surgical centers daily tasks. I assisted nurses preparing for the surgeries and had fantastic patient interaction during pre-op and post-op. I was the smiling young face that the patients and families got to talk to before their surgery to get the last minute nerves out. I was able to observe many types of surgeries (spine, orthopedic, urology, ENT) and created personal relationships with doctors in the operating room. I was able to ask questions and many Doctors walked me step by step through the surgery pointing out key aspects. The administrative staff of the center at Holly Springs were some of the best people to meet and the nursing staff was fantastic there. They were always on their A game and I wish as a surgeon in the future I will be able to work with a group like them some day.
