An important Panel discussion open to all students at Georgetown University discussing how Americans view healthcare professionals. The panel members differed in race, ethnicity and sexual orientation in an effort to reinforce the benefits of healthcare diversity. The lecture also explored the challenges faced by different physicians in their quest to provide quality healthcare to the public.

As department chairman, Dr. Dickson is responsible for the day to day management of the radiology department. His duties include provision of visible leadership, mentorship, management, patient and staff safety, optimization of department profitability through the constant assessment of service lines, decreasing turnaround times of requested patient studies and procedures, maintenance of high quality, timely and efficient access to services for patients and multidisciplinary referring services. He articulates a vision that enhances the excellence of the department, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and undertakes new initiatives that maintain and expand the existing departmental, clinical and teaching undertakings. Dr. Dickson manages strategic planning, faculty recruitment, financial operations, and service line and capital equipment recommendations in close collaboration with the Department Administrator. His specialty training is in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the brain and spine. He is also adept in the diagnosis and intervention of diseases of the entire body. Dr. Dickson's medical expertise extends into Picture Archive and Communication Systems, contrast media, multimodality imaging hardware and software (Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, X-Ray and Nuclear Medicine), Interventional Radiology devices and techniques including the biopsy, embolization, augmentation and radiofrequency ablation of fractures and bone tumors. Dr. Dickson's drive to seek improved, advanced, and superior approaches to imaging and diagnoses has led to his working in the translational medicine space and his being on the forefront of the development of the clinical application of this technology. In his capacity as physician reviewer, he lends his expertise to the many ongoing Phase IV trials which comprise the data driven assault on medical and scientific challenges in imaging techniques.
