Serving as the strategic advisor for communications across a $350M+ nonprofit organization serving the people of Delaware and beyond is a wonderful new chapter. From developing full-scale communications plans for the DCF, its important programs and services, as well as Healthy Communities Delaware (a DCF partnership with Delaware Dept. of Health and Human Services and the University of Delaware) to managing a staff and serving as a member of the C-suite, going to work each day is a pleasure. I oversee nearly every aspect of communications, traditional and social media and marketing, fundraising, report creation, advertising and promotions, and I represent the DCF publicly at conferences and summits. I built an agency from the ground up. We were virtual before anyone knew what that was. We had 1099 consultants with great experience before that was common. I build teams that specialize in what the Client needs. We have never been huge - that was never the goal. We have been highly creative, effective and darn fun. Our Client base grew and stayed, an average of 8 years. Our average retainer client stayed 10 years. The average project client came back 3+ times. Consultants, people who could and have worked anywhere, stayed an average of more than 9 years with the firm.We dug channels deep and wide in terms of experience: commercial real estate, consumer goods, food & beverage, medical and health, toys and juvenile, automotive and aftermarket ... 140 clients or so.It has been the gift of my career and there is no doubt in my mind that I have been given more than I will ever be able to repay.
