Joined a team that had developed a system (engine) to visualise, process and store complextax forms described by non-technical content developers. Built on-top of Serverlesstechnologies which included AWS services Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis Streams, SQS,SNS, IOT Core. A web UI powered by React rendered the forms with pubsub via IOT core foreventing.Challenges overcome included:- Ensuring performant processing of complex mathematical calculations.- Managing concurrency in a highly distributed, asynchronous system.- Ensuring high availability of service.

Successfully lead a team to deliver a critical new tax-related product into the NZ market withextremely tight deadlines. Worked alongside the NZ Tax Office (Inland Revenue).

Re-architect an application's infrastructure and deployment mechanisms to improveCI/CD, improve security, remove duplication and reduce cost. Introduced the ability fordevelopers to quickly deploy production-like development stacks through automated toolingso that they could quickly and efficiently test their development changes. Technologies included:- CI/CD: Buildkite.- Amazon Web Services: Including EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Redis, ALB,CloudFront, S3 and Route53.- Technologies: Docker.- Languages: NodeJS.

Various client projects, involving:Standardising AWS stacks as reusable components to be utilised and customised by development teams; build client-side applications with ReactJS; NodeJS API development; implement a functional test suite with boundary stubbing on third party services; drive change on development practices and processes and introduce continuous integration / continuous delivery across projects spanning multiple distributed teams.

Create a docker platform out to production to reduce time to production, built on-top of AWS ECS; maintain and improve a continuously integrated / continuously deployed build process out to production to support API micro-services built with NodeJS and client side applications built in AngularJS; improve test automation.
