Nala Investments is a Family Office located in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in developing direct investment opportunities in Mexico and the US.

Alejandro Schwedhelm completed a 12 year cycle at Darby Overseas Investments (Washington, DC), Franklin Templeton's Emerging Market Private Equity arm. There he built a team specialized in the financial sector, leading it through all phases of the Private Equity process. Starting with an existing portfolio, Alejandro and his team managed two funds, making 8 investments and 8 divestments, with a remaining portfolio of 3 companies. The overall portfolio included companies with operations in 12 Latin American countries.

Served as President for Latin America at GMAC-RFC (Minneapolis, Mexico City, São Paulo), and while there founded a mortgage bank in Mexico, and an asset management and resolution business in Brazil.

Founded Auritec, a boutique M&A and Advisory firm, completing nearly 100 mandates in 9 years. These included a multi-billion bank privatization, among others. While there, started a pioneering loan servicing and asset resolution business, which attracted the interest of various international players, with the result of the business being sold to GMAC's Residential Funding Corporation.

COO of Banca Serfin (now Santander), responsible for Finance and Administration, Credit and Risk Management, Information Technology and Electronic Banking, Facilities and Services, and liaison with the Board of Directors.Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at Banca Serfin. This unit topped the local M&A charts during his tenure, and became an early leader in building and managing a proprietary equity portfolio - before the activity became to be known as private equity. Investment banking unit renamed Fonlyser, upon becoming an independent unit.

Alejandro started his career at the World Bank Group, initially as Investment Officer in the Latin America Department of IFC, where he managed investments in various sectors. He later moved to the global Industrial Policy and Strategy Division of the Bank as Senior Industrial Specialist, where he dealt with topics such as privatization of state-owned enterprises.
