I have been fortunate in my career in that many people have looked to me as a leader in all of my various roles. Despite that, I consider myself a helper. When people ask me what I do for a career, it’s the one idea that I always come back to: that I help people in any way that I can. I am the technology and innovation leader for the country's second-largest state association of independent schools. I am also the association's chief writer, which I take great pride in. But, when describing my role, I typically refer to how I am able to help others. I help the association support our member schools and organizations through innovative and modern technology solutions. I help write and edit letters, print materials, and write the association’s monthly newsletter. I help support our annual Job Fair to Promote Diversity, including leading training sessions for schools and candidates on how best to make the day successful. I support all of the different programs within the association, including our leadership and DEIB institutes. However, my favorite aspect of my role is when individuals or organizations come to me with frustrations and problems looking for help, offering challenges to develop creative and innovative solutions to meet their needs. A plus to being challenged constantly is that I consider myself a lifelong learner and love that my career in technology and leadership has offered me a wealth of opportunities to learn something new. I have always embraced learning emerging technologies, programming languages, and leadership techniques, among any other skills that I can develop or knowledge ascertained. Another thing that I embrace is using my advantages to help support and promote the career and leadership journeys of others. I am fortunate that I have had many avenues in which I can help others through the paid and unpaid positions that I have held throughout my adult life. Finally, I am a volunteer. I am the Cubmaster for a local Cub Scout Pack, leading the organization through the National bankruptcy and the COVID-19 pandemic, all while growing membership and annual fundraising each by over 300%. I have coached over twenty teams, led numerous community events and fundraisers, and served on several non-profit and private corporate boards.andrewscooke.com
