~-~-~-~WHY mathematics?Understanding and accuracy: these two words have always been important to me. So I became an applied mathematician to model and analyze things around me. Besides learning technical concepts, mathematics provide with scientific rigor that can be use to deal with much more general issues. ~-~-~-~WHICH mathematics?I chose applied mathematics. During my studies, I discovered a predilection for numerical analysis and optimization. I also started learning scientific computing and really enjoyed it. After a master thesis in numerical optimization in partnership with the belgian research center Cenaero, I keep going working with them in the framework of my PhD thesis. After my work in the academic world, I started working for a software and service company in the supply chain area. This offers me a lot of new opportunities to apply mathematics in my day to day work.~-~-~-~WHERE?Since September 2017, I work for OMPartners. The headquarters of the company are located in Belgium but there are affiliates and customers in many other countries. Before that, I have been studying and working at the University of Namur (Belgium) since the beginning of my Bachelor in Mathematics in 2006. So, I like traveling abroad and working with new people. I spent 3 months at Argonne National Laboratory (Chicago, USA) and 4 months at GERAD (Montréal, Canada) for research stays as part of my PhD research work. ~-~-~-~WHAT else?My formation and my current experience in research and teaching taught me a lot about mathematics but also about me. I learned to work within a team and to communicate with experts or non-specialized audience. I like working with responsible and efficient people.
