The MDGs has enabled more girls to attend schools than ever before and primary education rates have increased around the world too. One of the greatest successes to be considered as well concern health where the MDGs have strengthen multilateral institutions and increase private-sector aid for the treatment and prevention of diseases such as malaria and HIV. However, while the MDGs have provided definite improvements toward the formation of a better world our job is not yet done.The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were launched last September 2015 with the aim to continue the goals of the MDGs. The SDGs are comprised of 17 goals that countries have adopted to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of the new sustainable development agenda. Just like the MDGs, each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. As the transition happen from MDG to SDG, in order for it to be a success, it is evident that the targets could only be achieved through the convergence of various sectors and each working towards one strategy – (inclusive sustainable) growth.This year the ASEAN Corporate Sustainability Summit and Awards will focus on the agenda of the SDGs as defined by the theme “Empowering Sustainable Convergence”. Continuing its journey for the past three years, the ACSSA 2016 will bring in a detailed forum on SDG in the Philippines as it aims to motivate and inspire industry leaders, sustainability practitioners, civil society partners, regional regulators, public sector leaders and aid agencies to converge and become more involved in sustainable development.
