Profile bio

About Alex Seledsov

As a SDET and Performance Test Engineer, I bring 5 years of fintech & enterprise quality assurance, coupled with a 6-year background in civil engineering where I advanced from an Engineer to a Chief Engineering Manager. This combination provides me with a strong blend of technical expertise, business needs understanding, communication and cultural intelligence skills, and leadership experience. I love algorithms and programming. In addition to everyday Python, Java, and C, I have an officially patented Natural Language Processing method and software based on Graph Theory. My preferred QA stack: - test automation: Selenium + Python/Java/SQL;- performance testing: LoadRunner + C/Java/SQL;- infrastructure: Linux, Bash/Python, Docker, and OpenShift/Kubernetes;- CI/CD: GitLab and Jenkins;- monitoring: Prometheus + InfluxDB + Grafana or ElasticSearch + Kibana + LogStash. As a QA Engineer, I ensured high-quality software through rigorous testing, CI/CD, infrastructure stability, and performance optimization. When needed, I've taken broad responsibility and addressed issues ranging from DevOps problems to analyzing core dumps of complex enterprise applications and fixing memory leaks in them. I am always eager to learn and commit to continuous improvement and delivering results.

Load Testing Engineer

Current

I’ve been involved in business lending and factoring projects for a bank. I perform functional and load testing for services developed by 30+ teams. My tests span over 60 services with custom API, tens of databases, and hundreds of tables, all in a microservices environment with no business unit responsible for the infrastructure. To make testing a hassle-free experience, I have created a test isolation framework and upgraded logging, monitoring, and tracing. Actions & Accomplishments:• Developed and maintained load testing scripts in C and Java using HP LoadRunner.• Configured and executed performance tests using Performance Center.• Analyzed test results, identified bottlenecks, and prepared performance reports.• Developed a set of Python and Java mocks that abstract irrelevant interactions, enabling efficient and focused testing environments.• Wrote SQL queries for MSSQL and PostgreSQL and stored procedures in MSSQL.• Set up monitoring for PostgreSQL and MSSQL databases, OpenShift-managed containers, and integrated the Telegraf + InfluxDB + Grafana stack.• Used previously deployed Mesos + Marathon and ELK stack solution. • Developed Selenium tests and integration tests in Python. • Utilized BitBucket, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence for work process management, progress tracking, and documentation maintenance across multiple teams. Technologies I used: LoadRunner, Selenium, C, Java, Python, T-SQL and PL/pgSQL, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Docker, OpenShift, Mesos, Marathon, Telegraf, Linux, Bash, Windows Server, InfluxDB, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Git, BitBucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence.

Qa Engineer

Institute Of Engineering Physics

Project: Leak Detection & Spreading Tracking System for Sensitive DocumentsThe project aimed to develop a system to detect and track document leaks and related information on the internet while ensuring a leak-free search process and maintaining data within the respective departments. The system also needed to track the spread of leaked documents on the internet without compromising the original contents.Actions & Accomplishments:• Load testing with HP LoadRunner + C to ensure meeting of performance objectives over time.• Developed Python stubs, mocks, scripts, and API endpoints.• Created Selenium + Python tests and a GitLab testing pipeline to accelerate development by verifying critical use cases.• Automated testing of a UDP-based protocol with Reed-Solomon error correction for sending data over a data diode (unidirectional network).• Participated in testing and optimizing a text block similarity estimation algorithm (similar to MinHash, a locality-sensitive hashing scheme) for the leak detector.• Gathered real user requirements and resolved client conflicts by explaining theoretical limitations and implementing comparison demonstrations, leading to realistic expectations and a successful product.• Worked closely with the team to shape the technical architecture and project execution and communicated the decisions to the client.Technologies I used: LoadRunner, Selenium, GitLab, Bash, Linux, SELinux, C, Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, MongoDB, Postman, Wireshark, Scapy.

From Engineer To Chief Engineering Manager & Entrepreneur

Various Engineering And Constructuion Companies

Moscow City, Russia

I have a background in engineering and management of large-scale infrastructure projects. In fact, the immense satisfaction I gained from working on structural modeling in Fortran, imitational modeling in Python, and my passion for simplifying complex problems and setting a process that “makes expectations and reality a match” (akin to QA), played a significant role in my decision to switch to IT. As a Deputy Chief Engineer (right before the Chief Engineering Manager position), I once led an engineering team of a complex underground tunnel construction project in a densely populated part of Moscow, under an active metro line and railway tracks. The project encompassed the coordination of 7,000 personnel and the deployment of 40 drilling rigs, along with over 200 units of specialized equipment. Engineering team that I led tackled challenges like maintaining uninterrupted metro operations by installing a colossal multi-thousand-ton concrete shield to separate the tunnel and metro line. Additionaly, we created a “digital twin” model of the shield and installed 140 sensors to monitor structural deformations, ensuring the safety of the metro line. Actions & Achievements:• Managed engineering teams for infrastructure projects, ensuring successful completion within scope and budget.• Developed work production plans for thousands of people, territory layouts, transport schemes, and traffic flow modeling.• Personally participated in structural modeling and coding a few digital twin models designed to support preventive maintenance and evacuation. • Built a high-performing department, recruiting employees and organizing work processes, ensuring the department's continued success even after I left. • When founding my own company with a partner, I personally secured a $3.5m contract for the reconstruction of underground passages.
