With over fifteen years of experience as a researcher, developer, and leader in biometrics and identity space, Dr. Asem Othman is a seasoned professional in his field. During his doctoral research at West Virginia University, he created a system to protect and store biometric templates using visual cryptography, which is now used in Veridium's solution. Following his postdoctoral research at Michigan State University, Dr. Othman joined Veridium in 2016 as part of the Computer Vision team. He led research and development on their 4 Fingers TouchlessID technology, which has since helped improve biometric authentication's security and reliability. In February 2021, Dr. Othman became the Director of Computer Vision and Machine Learning at Acuant, a document verification leader later acquired by GBG Plc in November 2021. He brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role, where he continues to make valuable contributions to biometrics and identity document verification. Dr. Othman's achievements extend beyond his professional work, with more than seven patents/patents pending and numerous journal articles, conference papers, and research entries.
