I serve as an attorney supporting People Services (Human Resources) for the top VA purchase lender in the nation and its affiliates. My goal is to prevent issues instead of just reacting to them. I work with my team to achieve compliance with an alphabet soup of laws like FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and the OSH Act. We're constantly monitoring changes to local, state, and federal laws that might affect us, including our branch and remote employees across many states. I have the honor of partnering with co-workers throughout the enterprise to problem solve and improve employment-related processes. Writing policies, trainings, and handbooks is fun for me because I get the chance to creatively and effectively communicate without overwhelming people with unnecessary legalese. My hope is to never come across as a roadblock or impediment to business and to instead to be a partner who can provide helpful legal research and analysis.
