In this position I was involved in all of Mark Brand Inc's companies but with a concentration on Catalog Creative and The Portside.Catalog Creative is about to blow up. A different take on a creative agency, we're not offering you the same solutions and buzz talk that you may have become used to. This is a fresh take on getting your message out. It is my responsibility to connect with clients who want to stand out in the crowd and be the liaison between our partners and our creative team. The Portside is Gastown's newest and most exciting live music venue, armed with an impressive army of craft beers on tap. Once again, Mark Brand Inc has discovered what the neighbourhood needs and delivered a welcome alternative. I am responsible for booking the live entertainment and marketing and promoting those acts.

I was responsible for the gross profit of our office. Other responsibilities include: Title Development, Pre Financing upcoming sections, Human Resources, and most importantly managing a team of 4-6 publishers working on individual projects and the office's quarterly budgets.In this position I consistently performed over budget while leading the company in sales while hiring, training and developing some of the companies strongest new sales people.I was also pivotal in the direction of our Vancouver office's efforts and a key decision maker on which projects we undertook and which markets we focused on.

I started as the first hire in of our Vancouver office and have the distinction of having published the most Vancouver titles, having the highest (and second highest) grossing report and generating more profit for the Vancouver office than any other employee to date. The majority of the seven reports I published were focussed on the natural resource sectors of British Columbia. My key responsibilities in this position were based around the planning and execution of producing a high quality, focussed independant section of daily newspapers (in the Vancouver office's case The Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald and The National Post). Some of the major responsibilities includedL- Planning the editorial synopsis- Hiring and managing journalists- Financing the report through relevant advertising. - Creating relationships with the relevant industry associations- Creative Direction for the visual layout of the report.

I was responsible for General Management of Halifax's top live entertainment venues, The Seahorse Tavern and The Marquee Club.During my time there both clubs won numerous awards which they held for multiple years including:Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia: Venue of the Year (when I took over operation of The Seahorse Tavern it won in the first year, after 49 years of operation - the oldest venue in Halifax)The Coast Magazine's:Best Live ShowBest Live Music VenueSome key responsibilities for both venues simulatneously were:Managing sound, bar and security staff (50 people +)Booking the entertainment Cash and accountingCoordinating event promotion and marketingEvent management

I ran and operated an independant event management company that was largely focussed on the urban music scene of Halifax.
