I was a registered PhD student of Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT), Cochin, India; and I cleared the PhD coursework examinations to secure PhD candidature with a GPA score of 8.25 on a 10 point scale. My Thesis work titled "Transcriptome dynamics of Mangrovibacter sp. during aerobic to anoxic transition" was an ultimate test of my critical thinking, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, will power and perseverance. I leveraged minimum resources and supervision to establish a well-defined pipeline for next-generation sequencing (NGS) based transcriptomic studies in bacteria. The thesis was the first of its kind submitted to CUSAT, Cochin. Work Experience•Mangrovibacter sp. MFB070, a facultative anaerobic nitrogen-fixing bacterium isolated from sediment soil of an aquaculture pond; was used for DNA isolation and sequencing experiments; to generate the first draft genome sequence of a member of the genus Mangrovibacter. •Performed literature searches; design of experiments; wet and dry lab experiments in Molecular Microbiology utilizing Microbiology, Fermentation and Molecular Biology labs; to generate RNA sequencing data and other qualitative/quantitative data from gene expression experiments on Mangrovibacter sp. MFB070.•Gene expression studies and data analysis of Mangrovibacter sp. MFB070 in various levels of anoxia stress led to the identification of genes that code for 70 unknown proteins, other important genes and molecular pathways conferring anoxia tolerance to the organism.
